1975 FXE bought in LV and rode up to SF along the coast, the other one is my 1978 1/2 LoRider 98" Stroker, Andrews cam, 5tab pressure, arizona geardrive starter, dual plug, single fire, head flowed, big jugs, super E carb, every 5th spoke gold plated, candy brandy translucent over gold undercoat, nice ride.. oh, 2" custom stainless pipes I made when I had "Bad Company".. I made Bad Pipes for Bad Bikes.. all top grade stainless..

Like the 74, did either of those bikes have the chain oiling system?

I had a 65 Electra glide, it was fun for a while, but ran like poop, probably because I re-built the motor myself and had no idea how to do it.

People always rip on AMF for destroying Harley, fact is, they saved the name and brand... but still built crappy bikes.

both had the chain oiler, I turned them off and lubed my own chain on the FXE, then used the oiless chain on the '78 1/2.. still lubed it tho.. otherwise, you get oil all over everything when its turned on..

nice rides man! makes me miss the bike....you know bikers are alot like jeepers with the wave an all ! 90% wave on bikes but the jeepers are getting to be like 60% thanks to the type of people buying the newer stuff it seems. so lets make em wave or buy back their hummer 8)

I have a 92 Ultra now, got a pretty good deal on it couple years ago. Got it stripped down like a street glide. It's dependable an cheap, excelent for me and the wife to cruise around on. Before that I had an 83 FXR Shovelhead that I truely loved and dearly miss. Had a wideglide front end with a 16. This bike was really strong when I got it and I raised alota of **ll with it and yes I had to fix it often. I ended up busting the engine case at the primary. I then spent 6grand building pretty much a new engine with Delkron cases, S@S heads, cam and carb. Had a custom ground 550lift cam, keith black pistons and it was all dynamicly balanced. There was more but you get the idea. Sounded ooh sooo good and have had alota bikes but never had one to feel like that one. I called it old yellar, it was pretty popular around town. Had that rubber mount 5 speed and when you got on it hard it would rip the front rubber mount out of it. Also had to put Andrews gears in the trans, I peeled the teeth off a few cogs. Like any hotrod, I worked on it alot but I didn't cut it no slack. It ran so good I just couldn't ride it without crackin it open. Got a wild hair to sell it, probably a good thing I did though. I will say this, It was well respected by all brands and sizes of motorcycles. I'll get my wife to help me post some pics. In my book ain't nothin' like an old Shovel!

mine had the Delkron cases, S&S tall jugs, andrews #6 cam so I could run street without a lot of problems.. its a very good street cam and dependable.. actually, never had to tear it down for any major work, just tore down what I was fixing up, like the dual plugs, single fire ignition, dual coil, 5finger clutch, gear drive starter, and like you say, the list goes on and on.. had it blueprinted originally when I went to the 98" motor.. south bay job and it was a smooth fast runner..
