H-4 headlight conversion.

I just installed an H-4 headlight conversion kit on my YJ along with the blue tinted bulbs. What a difference! These things light up the sides of the road much better and make it look closer to daylight. Haven't tried highbeams yet or off road so this is my question....The new lenses that I installed have a small round mirrored blocker inside them so the light doesn't go directly out. The light reflects back off this blocker, then off the lens and out. I haven't had a chance to test these off road or on a dark road where I can use the high beams. Won't these reflectors limit the highbeams?

shackle lifts???

I am sure they will work fine. Consider the cost alone they better work good. tug

Actually, the price isn't all that bad. It was $50. Canadian for the lenses and $20 Canadian for two of the H-4 bulbs. Good thing is that when they burn out, it's about the same price to replace the H-4 bulbs as it is to replace regular lights. I also don't have to pull out the whole lense...just pull the bulb out of it and plug it in.

I did the H4 conversion last year with some blue tinted bulbs... i did have a problem with melting the factory bulb socket harness thingy... but they are only $3 at the parts store, and the new one has not had a problem yet... If you noticed, your bulb is likely painted black at the tip, that doesn't allow light to exit the tip of th bulb, so that reflector hood will not be stopping anything anyway, all of the light is to exit the sides of the bulb, reflect off the back reflector and outward... if you look at a stock/replacement assembly, it has markings cut into it in "random" fashion, that is not quite random, it is designed to reflect the light in certain directions... because the H4 lens is clear and smooth, the reflective hood is part of the design in keeping the beam traveling in the right direction
