well.. i started the day by deciding to remove the fender flares... with intention of filling the holes with some stainless bolts and nylon washers... well... one flare looked as though it was about to rip right off... so i grabbed it to rip it off... mistake... BIG mistake... off comes a chunk of BONDO from the rear quarter.... it looks as though SOMEONE did a really really good cosmo job on this before painting it... well.. now i have a big rusy hole about the size of a slice of bread in the side of my jeep... I just laughed.. i still couldn't believe what i was seeing...

well... about an hour later... i went to the gas station to get some gas... well... when it was time to leave... crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank crank.. etc.... welp.... lets let it sit... crank crank crank crank.. nope.... let it sit.. try again... nope... check the codes.. everything is fine... hmm... fuel pump is turning on... getting spark... hmmm, lets get out the laptop to get codes from the net.... check codes again... lean O2 readings... check again... nothing wrong... try to start it... no go... check again... fuel something or other error... try to start... no go... check again... lean O2 reading... call for a ride home.... try to start it... bam... starts... confused... so there IS something wrong.. possibly fuel pump, definitely some part of the fuel system.

then i went to wind down on a SMALL offroad trip... driving down a trail i drive down all the time... there is a gate down there that has been opened for about 3 years or more... well... JUST as i get to the gate, the wind blows it shut, and it shatters my headlight...

all in all... a wonderful day... all i can do is laugh at myself... feels like a ben stiller movie

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Days like that just piss me off, but hey, at least your in a jeep and not some other vehicle...

and oh yeah.... the body work detail has convinced me to re-apply the bondo section back on with some liquid nails... finish removing the flares... and spray-camo the entire jeep... i think i'm gonna go with a CJ-7 tub next year if i get to it... or if money permits... a kevlar tub

I would be worried that if your plowing with a kevlar tub, the shocks and jolts might cause stress crack? Just curious what your thoughts are?? DO you do any heavey plowing?

I have a day something like that most every week or so. Glad to see you able to keep on a laughing through it all. tug

well.. there are two things about the kevlar... for one... it is 5 times stronger than steel... but.. like you said... unlike steel, it will not flex, it will crack if stressed enough... then... if i DO go kevlar... i would do what i wanted to do this year, which is to get that plow off the jeep and find something else to put it on

well i guess that is a factor... i'll just see what the winter brings for money i guess
