Got in an Accident

I'm fine, just really pissed off. Some 18 yr old in a 92 civic w/ coffee can exhaust and custom stickers was zipping through a parking lot not paying attention. He hit my 00 XJ right in the driver side door. His car was so low that he went mostly under, denting up the bottom of my door and the frame below it. Since it was a parking lot (private property) the police did not assign blame, and only wrote him a ticket for not having insurance. It's not bent too bad, but its going to cost plenty to fix, and I have a $500 deductible. The door still closes and its safe to drive. This is my DD and the car I plan to drive for years to come, so I'm not going to leave it like this and I am out $500. Good thing I have my CJ so I don't have to pay for a rental car.

My wedding is in 2 months and bills are stacking up... The last thing I want is to waste $500 b/c some idiot hit me. I am so ticked off. What a way to cap off the weekend.

RE: Are you normal? Take the test.

That sucks man. Sorry to hear it. It really pisses me off when people drive without insurance, not that it would have helped you in this situation.

No sense stressing about it though, what's done is done. Hey, at least you have plenty to look forward to ;)

You can always sue him. Does your area have a small claims court? If you get a judgement against him, you can then Levy any of his property to sell at auction to pay your damages. I'm sure you could get $500 for his banged up Civic.

Or ask him to cover your deductible maybe he will own up and take some responsibility.

Ya, I'd talk to him first...and if that doesn't go well just sue him for the cost of the repairs. I'm sure he'd rather just pay the deductable than get sued, but keep in mind you insurance could still go up if you go that route (where he pays the deductable)

beware of filing a claim on YOUR insurance... you'll be paying for it later with higher premiums...

Got my estimate today... $1920. The insurance co says that I am out the $500 deductible and then they will try to get payment from the other guy's company. I will get money back based on what they get back. My insurance may go up based on if they (Allstate) determines that I am at fault, which they have not decided yet.
