gear sets??

does anybody know if i can switch my 4.10 ring and pinions from my 2.5 to my 4.0..teh 2.5 is a 86 xj 5speed with d30/d36 front vaumm DC ,the 4.0 is a 1995 xj sport auto with d30/d35 NON DC any info woudl be great thanks!

Yes, both should be the same axle combo. The carriers would have to follow the gearsets to the other vehicle.

If the gears in the XJ are 3.54 or higher wouldn't the carriers be the same???

Only for one of the axles, like the rear if I remember correctly. But why remove the ring gear if you don't need to? CHances are stock gears in that setup are 3.55.
