fuel pump whining engine stalls out on start

Ok my 1993 Cherokee has always had a humming sound coming from the fuel pump, but recently it has gotten much louder and my engines stalls on starting it. This doesnt happen on each start though, and i lose no power while driving. If there is anyone who can help me i would appreciate it so much...Thank You

I would look into the fuel filter being clogged or fuel pump going out. Your louder hum may be the pump working harder to pump the gas, or trying to pump the gas through a cloged filter.
