Fuel Pump Advice 1996 GC Laredo

So I would like to avoid buying an OEM fuel pump because the cost I feel is through the roof. I have seen some after market pumps between $150-$225.00. Can anyone recomend a decent After Market replacement? My mechanic wants to charge me $200.00 in labor to drop the tank and replace the pump. Is this a fair price for labor?

Thanks in advance.

I'm about to do this on mine soon. OEM pumps are really expensive and I'm still looking into the assembly. I'm not clear on if the fuel sending unit and pump are one or two seperate parts. I have seen both for sale. I am also considering some sort of access hole in the back under the carpet with a bolt on cover panel so I will NEVER have to drop the tank again. Gonna have to see when I get it apart. Not gonna cut thru any cross members. Advise is helpful.

Ive seen a few done with external elect fuel pumps and just leave the old one in tank

This sounds like something I'm interested in. How is this done? What type of pump and where to mount it?

$200 in labor is about average, I always think these prices are frickin ridiculous but thats cuz I do all the work myself lol but ya thats about average for a job like that. and factory fuel pumps are always pricy, check out quadratec.com for some good after market Jeep parts.
