front tow hooks on zj

ok, i'd like to put some tow hooks on the front of my 96 grand cherokee (not that i plan on getting stuck ). but where exactly would i mount them? there doesnt seem to be any place on the frame that isnt covered by the front bumper...any zj owners done such a thing to theirs? thanks in advance.

You'll have to buy or build a bracket kit to mount the hooks to the frame. Check out graewulf's link as well as Rusty's Offroad. The Rusty's ZJ kit is $100.

hehe, i know what you mean, the frame is buried in there somewhere underneath all that "protective" plastic though i swear.

i'm looking at the picture for the tow hooks at rustys you put there, and i'm wondering about the silver pieces, i know they must attatch to the frame and extend it so that the tow hooks are far enough out front, i'm just wondering if anyone knows how much cutting that would involve? i'm guessing at least some holes in my bumper.

Those brackets mount the hooks just below the front bumper, no cutting involved that I know of. Rusty is real easy to talk to and helpful if you want to give him a call to make sure. He's an XJ jeeper at heart.

true, but you still have to remove the entire front bumper, thats why i'm looking at the radiator support... it spreads the load to both frame rails, and with unibody, that is a good thing....

yeah, and now i've decided i'm waiting for white to finish the front bumper on his friend's zj. i want to see the finished product and then maybe see if someone in my area could help me copy that on my jeep. because i'd spend $100 right now on rusty's kit, and then when i can afford a bumper later on down the road, i'd just take it off my car and it would be a waste.
