Flares?!?

Hey Jeepers. I'm thinking about getting new fender Flares for my TJ, becuse the OEM that I have are starting to become seriously faded from the sun. I was wondering if anyone has changed there flares before and what brand of flare holds up best against the sun. I know that Quadratec offers about six brands and I was even thinking of trying to get a hold of some black Sahara flares and see how they look with the forest green body.

I don't know about the TJ, but the YJ has what seems to be hundreds of screws with retainers on the back side that go through the flares and sheet metal. If you do decide to replace your flareslet me know. I am interested in doing the TJ flares on the YJ.

I bet a local bodyshop can paint your flares for you the same color as your jeep, and proabl do it cheaper than buying new ones! Plus the most likely will never fade that bad again! Save some cash and remove them yourself, really easy, just tedious work, like patriot said. But if you do decide to get knew ones, I also wanna be in the running to get those old ones from ya!

I just took mine off, sanded them a little, and painted them with BUMPER BLACK from Advance Auto Parts. It's been about a year now, and due to some tree limbs, they need to be redone. But, they still look good and black.[addsig]

If your original BLACK flares are now grey/white,,,

Save your money, and pull your 'heat gun' out....

Last weekend, after reading write ups in SEVERAL
other boards, I spent an hour changing my greys
back to black flares. and saved almost $300!!! ;-)

1. no need to remove,,, use your head and keep
the 'gun' moving, especially around the paint.

2. the gun actually looks like it is 'spray painting'
black as you constantly and slowly move it over
the flare.

3. others that have done this long ago, say it can
last for up to a year or so, depending on exposure.

4. cheapest, easiest, MOST DRAMATIC, Mod I've
ever seen. My Flares are now as Black as my Rig.
