GM Goodwrench makes a 3.4L crate engine that is a direct bolt-in replacement for the pathetic 2.8L, probably expensive but you'll get a lot of power and a warranty.
Best upgrade for the 2.8L would be to remove it from your Jeep

I was looking to drop a 350 in my Cherokee when the 4.0 died last week, even though the motor can be found cheaper than a $1300 crate 4.0 it's not worth it after you buy all the parts nec. from Advance Adapters. The Jeep 4.0 is a strong motor and you can't go wrong with it![addsig]
