Hey jeepers... I got a 91 YJ with a 4.0L and a 5spd transmission. My buddy just built a whole new engine for his mustang and he said he would give me the old one. Its out of a 1994 Mustang GT. with the V8 5.0 H.O. motor. It has everything... the alt, starter, absolutly everything...

My question is... Will this fit in my wrangler? What will I have to do... Is it worth putting in? [addsig]

The FI 4.0L is a heck of a motor that can be modfied to produce a lot more power, I wouldn't mess with the trouble and $$ of that swap.[addsig]

.... But on the same note, if the engine is free, the mustang 5.0 can be modified with the same stuff (exhaust, intake, thermostat, chip, plugs etc.) and it will run a heck of a lot better. It should fit.. you would need a mustang transmission though--- i dont think the jeep transmission will bolt up. Motor mounts would be pretty easy to find, i think .. If you know what you're doing (mechanically) then i would definately do it. [addsig]

if you have a welder and some cutting tools... you can make anything happen... i love the sound of the 5.0.. if i had one in my jeep... i would take out the stereo and sell it... i would never have it on[addsig]

The '94 Mustangs still had the awesome 5.0L motor.
I found these guys who specialize in 5.0L swap parts.

If the price is right on the 5.0L V8, it would be sweet.

Yes it will. Go to Z@M.com Thay make a bolt on mount for the 5.0. Thay are out of San Jose, CA. The 5.0 will fit better then a chevy 350. And the 5.0 is 100lb lighter then the 350. If i had that stuff i would keep it and wait till my went out then put in the 5.0. Then you will need all the stuff that's go with it Beacause your stock trans and axles can't handle the power.[addsig]

I've swapped in a v8 before, and it can be a headache and lots of $$, so you have to decide if you really need it. Lacking power? The 4.0L worn out? Just wanting something cool? It's a tough decision that only you can make, but once you cut those motor mount perches from the frame, it's kinda like the point of no return :-O [addsig]
