ok as most of u know im going with the 4.7 stroker kit soo that means lotts more power and torque. i need to know of what varous drive train options i have to work with . i need some thing that can handle the power and 35 s with front and rear lockers . so let me know what u think thanks again for the help guys .

1. You should have your transmission rebuilt. The AW4 is a brute and can handle the power, ONLY if it is in top working condition. Get it rebuilt at the same time as the Stroker is being put in.
2. I would run an upgraded axle in the back with 4.10 - 4.56 gears (front and back) to turn those meats. Options include : Ford 8.8, Superior 35 kit, Dana 44.
3. run brand new U joints in your driveshaft, I snapped mine a week after getting my stroker. Ask for the strongest one, I THINK chromoly.

RE: Greatest Sports Moment

ok transmission wise i have an ax15 and an np231 t case in the rear, so what is an aw4 im not fermiliar with that . rebuilding the transmission is cake so that shouldnt be a problem but it does have 174000 miles on it so its kinda due soon any way.

AX15 is the 5spd manual. The AW4 is the automatic 4 speed.
If you got the AX15, I recommend a bigger clutch for it, something that can hold more power.

Your transmission may hold up, but I would be worried about a (locked) stock rear axle turning 35's with a stroked motor.

Do you have a D35 or a Chrysler 8.25 Rear?

RE: Paragon Feb 19th

you can get performance clutch's like Centeforce or go to www.carolinaclutch.com and get a LUK Gold clutch kit.

The AX15 and 231 should hold up just fine. The 8.25 will do fine depending on where and how you wheel.

LOOKING FOR HARDTOP IN NORTH CAROLINA AREA

That being the case, you should probably upgrade now or have to upgrade later. That much HP with 35" tires, a locker, and a lead foot, better cut to the chase and install a D60. You MIGHT get by with a D44, but do you want to risk it?

RE: Betcha did not know this one...

rebuilding the transmission is cake so that shouldnt be a problem

no no no.. rebuilding the ax15 is far from cake
