ok i previously had glorious plans for a 4.5 inch lift with 32's. a 31 inch tire opportunity has come along tahts too good to pass up, so im gonna grab those, 4 AR black rims, and a $116 2 inch rough country lift. the lift is 2 inch coil spacers for up front, and 2 inch lift shackles for the back (4 inches total i guess cause i believe you only get half the height from shackles) i plan on installing this myself sometime in the next couple weeks? i wont have to extend brake lines or anything serious for just 2 inches will i?[addsig]

I think that you will be ok as far as brake lines go.When I did a 6 inch lift the brake lines were totally maxxed out in length. But,if this happens to you the brakes may be a little stiff.I learned this the hard way. Hope it works out  Sully[addsig]

Let us know how it goes, I´m thinking along the same lines. I came across a near new set of 31´s on a set of 16" TJ rims for the right price. And am going to try and lift as little as possible. I´m also looking at trimming/moving the flares up a bit, maybe some bushwackers if necessary. I don´t really need the ground clearance, but a little room under the axles would be helpful. I run a lot of farm roads, that the tractors have rutted. I´m thinking, of a add a leaf for the rear or maybe adding a long leaf from an extra set of rear leafs I have ( I often haul a trash trailer). And front spring spacers (2").
Just for info, I took a spin in a guys XJ (94) with 255/70`s, we bounced it around pretty good, with no noticable rubs. Except the normal rub at full turn. The tires filled up the wheel wells pretty good.[addsig]

Rusty's Offroad has 3" coils for $99, then get full length 3" add-a-leaf kit for the rear. At 2" and 3" you won't need to do anything with the brake lines or the steering. I'd redrill the lower track bar mount to recenter the front axle, and install longer sway bar disconnects on the front.[addsig]

Bounty is probably right the coils and the add a leaf are the way to go. I kinda got some unique problems, where I live. The inspectors at the inspection station can be a real pain, a lifted vehicle requires certification for the lift components. The only two companies certified here right now (that I know of) are Pro Comp and Rancho.
I´ve gotten a few things past the inspectors, they just didn´t notice. But I´ve also had them pull out, the old tape measure and make me remove whatever I´ve changed.
They don´t mess with a person much about tires, but I´ve rarley seen anything bigger than 33´s on the road.
If I order something from the states (US) I´ve got to pay UPS for a 7000 mile trip (so the lighter the better). I´ve checked on a Pro Comp 3 1/2 inch lift with the full rear spring pack (the kit, shocks and all), which runs $1300 here with the certification papers. About $400 in the states and probably double that with shipping and no certification.
The other alternative is to have the dealer certify it, for between $400 and $800 depepnding on how hungry he is at the moment. The dealer certification is only good for two years.
God I really hate bureacracies.
So I was thinking of a front spring doughnut and a home made add a leaf. Not because I´m particularly, really cheep (but I do support three kids). I don´t much like getting ripped off either. But the two inch spacer and a two inch add a leaf, might not be noticed by the inspectors. The inspectors here, don´t much care how much sheet metal you trim (as long as the tires are covered) and whatever you cut isn´t structural.

well see if i go with the 2 inch spacers and 2 inch blocks, then i can combine this with the 4.5 when i get it giving me 6.5 to clear larger rubber. otherwise id do the add a leaf and new coils.[addsig]
