i have a 1979 DJ5 - G and i have a question that hopefully someone here can answer because no one locally has a clue.
i need a new starter solenoid, but the ones i can find at local parts stores are not the same as what is in it, which i believe is original equipment. the current one has all of the usual connections as a new one, but one extra. it has what can best be described as a "nipple" on the opposite side of the starter/ignitions connections. a wire is plugged into it sort of like how plug wires just pop on the plugs. i cannot see where it goes since after leaving the solenoid, it is then bundled with some others.
is it really necessary anymore since all the solenoids i find do not have this extra connection? can i just leave it unattached or does it have to be re-routed somewhere? please help!
