Different transmission question

I've never paid attention to this. Looking at it from the rear, does the output shaft on the transmission rotate clockwise or counterclockwise in a forward gear? The question may sound silly, but I do have a reason for asking. One way causes a slight bind in 5th and the other way rotates out of the bind. It's an 87 YJ.

It would rotate clockwise.

If you watch the dragstrip guys launch from the starting line you'll see the right-rear tire bite into the track while the left, in some cases, may actually lift. That is an extreme torque reaction.

It happens to a lesser degree on all rear-wheel differential type automobiles.

It will turn the same direction as the yoke on the rear end and the same way as the engine.

I do realize that much. The transmission is not in the Jeep and the Jeep is not readily available to look at. So, if you want to go at it that way, what direction does the crankshaft in the motor turn if looked at from the rear? And, yes I know it turns the same direction as the flywheel.

Should be clockwise. I was saying that, because when you are having a brain cramp like I was at the time it would have been less thought in spinning the rear yoke. Since you don't have the Jeep around, it's not really an option.

Yesterday wasn't the best day I've had in a while either. Sorry if I sounded a little testy. My dog wouldn't even come near me.
