Hello jeep brothers & sisters, I was wounding how to flush the transmission system on my 03 liberty, got all the parts I want to flush the system well. ( don't what to pay big $$$$$ to have it done)Thanks TT

here is how I do it. After I drop the pan, new filter and gasket, reinstall pan, fill the transmission. then I take the return cooler line off the transmission, put the open end into a bucket, Start the vehicle and put it into Neutral while a friend continously fills the transmission pan with ATF so that the pick up doesn't go dry. Once I see clean fluid coming out of the return line, transmission has been flushed, reassemble and check/fill transmission fluid. drive it around the block in all gears, recheck fluid level, fill if needed.

all in all it uses about 2 qrts of ATF in excess (lost during the "flush") IMHO, way cheaper than paying someone to power flush a transmission, which is not a good thing on an older transmission.

Thank you jps4jeeps! Does the return line back to the transmission feed any other transmission parts after the cooler or does it dump in the pan directly? I am asking so i don't run any internal parts dry. Thanks again for your response! TT

I think it lubes the 4th (or 5th) gear sprag.. not positive. it only takes about 20 seconds or so, so there is little risk of doing damage, plus you will be in Nuetral (won't pump in park) so there is really no need to lubricate non moving parts
