clutch problem, or maybe slave or master???

Have you seen this??

I replaced the clutch, master and slave cylinder last summer and now one of them has gone bad. I bled the thing for a half hour today and still no pressure. I'm guessing it is the slave because the fluid resevior was almost empty but i couldn't look for a puddle because i was parked in grass. These things aren't supposed to crap out so soon right? anyone have any suggestions?

They're not supposed to, but...

They changed the slave to an external (95 I believe was the first year). Probably because they're known to go bad. I have a friend with a '92 (2.5L) and he has to add clutch fluid to his every 3 or so days. Eventually it will just go, but it's been like that for around 3 years.

You can check under the dash where the master come through the firewall. Usually if there's a problem with it, it'll leak on the inside of the firewall. It might not drip but if you put your hand up there, you will be able to feel all the gunk that has leaked out around it. Don't know how to check the slave since mine is inside the transmission.

It's not uncommon to get a bad internal slave that only lasts a short time. You'll have to park somewhere you can check for fluid leaks.

I think it may be best to bench-bleed the clutch master cylinder before installation.

First year for the external clutch slave was '94, swap over with a '94 bellhousing and related clutch parts if you want less of a headache. Then you don't have to drop the transmission to replace the clutch slave.
