Clunk when steering CJ

Got a question for everyone . I hear a loud clunk when steering at extreme angles. I also feel it in the floor board. I suspect its a steering box issue as it leaks badly. I also have had the front end appart and have replaced some bearings and bushings. And no the hubs arnt locked. Any ideas? this for a 86' jeep cj 7 thanx for any useful imput.

Sounds like the steering box at the frame. Consider a steering bracket like this:

With a brace to the opposite framerail like this:

My CJ sometimes clunks too. I don't have a steering box anymore. I believe it is the bearing at the end of the steering column under the hood. It never bothered me enough to replace it. It could also be the small u-joint between the end of the column and the steering shaft.

Got a new steering box old one was leaking real bad but did not fix the clunk. Redrooster is probly right about the bad bearing. thanx for the imput.
