clock in dash on a '87

I am new to jeeps and am trying to fix the '87 I recently bought.


The clock in the dash doesn't work what does it take to remove that part of the dash and what should I expect? are the clocks junk or do I have a bad connection or broken clock?

also my oil pressure gauge doesn't always work unless I hit it.

I can't be the only one with a broken clock can I?

I have an 89 yj that had the same issues. I fixed it by removing the gauges which is pretty simple and cleaning all of the connections. There is a main plug which connects to the back of your gauges that should be disconnected and contacts cleaned as well. After I did this to mt Jeep everything worked great.

I have an '87 also and like bill said, its most likely dirty contacts. wasnt a hard job, just take your time and use a quality contact cleaner like CRC and i just used some shop towels to clean it up. now all my guages work like they should.
