cj7 stock shock mount...

motor

hello all. i'm new to this board, been perusing it for awhile. reckoned this was the best place to ask my question, as dumb as it may seem.

i have a 79 cj7, stock with extra original rust. i was changing the front shocks yesterday and having a heckuva time undoing the nut for the lower eye bolt on the passenger side. well i gave it one last reef, and sure enough, i got the nut off--complete with bolt threads! it sheared off right on the outside of the eye hole.

so, i called every place i could: canuck wheel, napa, lordco, used parts, machine shops (all of the auto wreckers were closed on A SATURDAY!!!) and they all said the same thing--"oh no. we wouldn't carry anyhting like that. call xxxxxx (the jeep/chrysler dealership). ok. i talk to the parts fella there, and after some poking he around he tells me that jeep doesn't even stock that part anymore!

my question: what do i do now? i figure that most late70's/early80's jeeps would have the same shock mount (the chilton's calls it a "tie plate" but don't use that term with any parts people cuz they have no idea...)so barring going to the auto wreckers on tuesday where they have already probably been pillaged, what's the next best (read:cheap!) scenario? do i get one made? is there some sort of universal mount i can buy at a place like napa?

you're the experts, so that's why i'm posting here. any help would be much appreciated!

ps--i have a pic if you can't understand my description attempt

cheers!

hey! that's exactly it! now why wouldn't napa/insert-yer-regular-parts-peaople-here stock something like this?

i'm assuming that's in the u.s. (i have only looked at the page you sent), but if they have it, treat people well as u say, and can ship it pronto, i'll use 'em.

thanks so much!

dunno... I tried to steal one of those Jeep pics that L33TJ33P put up here and mod it to look kinda like mine... I created a geocities and imagestation account just to host it, and couldn't get either to work right for me. I gave up for now.

Nevermind, fixed it. Thanks Nick.
