cj tailgate on a yj

not sure if anyone here has done this or not but i am in the process of putting a cj tailgate on my yj. i like the fact that it folds down instead of out, it is much more useful that way. any input on this.

im going to pick it up tomorrow night. it shouldn't be that hard, the cj gate fits perfect. its just the issue with mounting all of the hinges.......maybe i can email someone pics so they can post them for me.

I am sure you can make it work because I have seen write ups for people who use YJ tubs for CJ tub replacements and use the CJ gate. I don't have any links for you, but do a search for that type of swap... I am sure you will find something.

I have seen this done a couple times, once on a TJ and on a couple YJ's. Looks rear nice. One person kept the factory bear claw latch, then added clevis pins on the two top corners so that it could still lock (he used the original YJ tail gate and welded the pin mounts on)
Just add the hinges to the bottom of the gate, call it a day!
