I was at SAMS CLUB today and they had a Champion winch - 7500lbs. 2.2 HP permanent magnet motor, 95ft of 5/16 line with rolller fairlead, 12ft remote, and mount plate.

List price is 298.00!! Does anyone know anything about these winches - only has a 1 year limited warranty but still at that price.

I only paid an extra 150 and got the warn M8000....
I never herd of champion.

2.2hp? hah thats like a weed wacker motor. for reference warn uses a 6.2 in some of its winches and nothing smaller than 4hp and tmax uses a 6.6hp. dont by that piece.

More Jib Jab for Inauguration Day...

Actually, many of the cheaper winches use 1.9HP motors (Ramsey "e" series). I'm not saying I'd buy one, but it's not too uncommon. It will still pull the rated weight, it'll just take alot longer.

I chose to get a hi-lift and wait 'till I can afford a Warn or a Ramsey Patriot series.

heres my theory, if its there to get me out of a hard spot or potentially have my vehicle dangling on the end of a wire fully loaded, i WANT to spend the money to make sure it works when i need it, there are some things that are dangerous to get on bargain for some people (me) cuz im gonna beat the piss out of it and it sure as heck better come up pulling and not freespooling

I'm in the market for a winch too...is mile marker good? and i found a mounted but never used warn m8000i winch for $400/bo, i think it's their older model if they have an older model.

yea thats another thing, MM and Tmax are made overseas, ramsey and warn are made here. MM and tmax actually are the same product, they use the exact same internals and sometimes they even get switched so the internals on a tmax say MM, warn or ramsey is my vote, theyll be a lot easier to deal with for warranty issues and your supporting american jobs
