Center cap rattle

I have another wheel question. One of my rim center caps rattles, but the rim is tight on the Jeep. Is it ok to put a thin rubber gasket behind the centercap to make it stop rattling? If it isn't, is there something else I can do to make it not rattle?

Just an idea but, why don't you take the center cap off... and wrap some electrical tape around the base of the cap. Once you put the cap back in the wheel, the tape would be hidden by the wheel and no more rattle!

Same idea right? The only reason I came up with rubber gasket is because I happened to run across a (free) 4 foot sheet of it and thought it might fix my rattle. I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to create any more problems for myself before I did it. But, I have a ton of electrical tape too. Thanks for the idea, I may try that first.

yea gasket would work, also, i did it on my jeep witht he same problem, u can use a giant O ring around the center cap. works good keeps everything tight

I found a thin pre-made gasket at work just the right size and used that. No more rattle! This thing is almost ready for the road and trails. On to my next project....
