The tree huggers are at it again :(

I acknowledge the fact that smog is a problem in our major cities, but I am sick of the global warming whackos and their ridiculous claims. The latest is that we need to restrict automobiles from emitting carbon dioxide. That's right, I did not say carbon MONoxide. They want to limit the same product we exhale.

As if our vehicles don't already cost enough to satisfy them.

I'm sorry, to reduce pollution there are bigger fish to fry and this crap is never-ending

Yep, yep, that's It, lets stop what all green plant life needs to help make oxygen. I hope that carbon dioxide is just a typo and they mean carbon monoxide. Maybe they should plant more trees and cut down on the junk mail sent so less trees are cut down!

Uhhh...yeah, that's just what I was thinking....I'm no expert (but my daddy had a master's degree in biology with emphasis on botany), and I've always heard that plants need C02 just as bad as we need oxygen......and yeah, that's what they take in to make oxygen. Symbiosis, I believe it's called. Makes me wanna pee on an electric fence......

I am no expert in global warming theory, nor am I a tree-hugger, but CO2 is the greenhouse gas those tree-huggers have always been worried about. CO will kill you while you sleep, but I dunno if it will make your planet warmer. No typo there.

Yeah, C02 has always been the main combustion produced gas of concern for global warming alarmists. CO's main ecological problem is that in cities it fixes the nitrogen oxide in the air into nitrogen dioxide which means that you'll have more ozone floating around with nothing to be friendly with (except for your lungs).

funny thing is we had the Medieval Warm Period (850-1350 A.D.), when the Northern Hemisphere experienced a slight warming trend; and the Little Ice Age (1350-1950), when the hemisphere cooled. no Jeeps and Non-Jeeps to blame it on back then. Warming comes before cold periods, here is some of the info about this http://www.21stcenturysciencetech.com/articles/Ice_Age.html . Also blaming humans for the extinction of the saber tooth lions and other ice age creatures is inaccurate. according to national geographic http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/11/1130_041130_bison.html

I'm thinking a home down south sounds mighty nice now :)

I've been trying to tell all the Global Warming Alarmists this info for years. We are technically on the tail end of an Ice Age, so of course things are going to warm up for a while.....

I will always drive my jeep around, no tree hugger will stop me from doing it. If they stand in my way, I'll make a trail that goes around them and go about my buisness...

I think I am going to chain myself to a smokestack... or maybe my Jeep's tailpipe

I have read that Mount Saint Helens put out more environmentally damaging pollutants with one big blast than all of man has throughout history.

It is human nature to control things, it is the worlds nature to destroy and create things. If the world is going to be destoryed due to harmful chemicals then something new will be born from the destruction.

your to nice, i would just drive over them....

Ask me if I care anymore......We just bought a new Tahoe! I say "LOOK OUT ENVIRONMENT!"

Say what you want about the tree-huggers (I might even be one  )...........I think the motto should be "Tread Lightly".

Just MHO,

I don't think he was referring to anything other than the fact that the Tahoe doesn't exactly get stellar EPA/MPG ratings.

I'm okay with the tread lightly mentality as it pertains to not acting like a jackass and being respectful. don't intentionally tear up a trail or ruin the scenic aspect of them by littering or straying from designated trails, but the Tread Lightly organization, which I am a former member of, is a necessary evil. We need to have it to keep those who want to shut down our trails quiet but they are a bit too far out in left field for my liking.

Don't get me wrong, I understand there are issues with our environment which need to be addressed, but it seems that our government consistantly and increasingly wasts money on fruitless programs to appease special interest groups.

...........but it seems that our government consistantly and increasingly wasts money on fruitless programs to appease special interest groups.

Exactly.......the special interest groups are running this country - greed sucks, but I'm not going there. I just think we need to be aware of the wonderful gift God has provided for us, and try to keep it as pristine as possible for our children and our children's children. Living in the Smokeys has taught me how much the air sucks, and anyone thinking that the internal combustion engine running on fossil fuels is "THE ANSWER" needs to do some thinking...........I'm hoping our children do. My reply was mainly about what I percieved to be the attitude projected......................Not good, IMHO.

Waintin' for our kids to show us how stupid we are,

I agree Mud,... I truly do. I think we need to apply some discretion to our actions,.... we need to be responsible,... but I see it in a slightly different light.

People want to fix the greenhouse effect, global warming, the whole in the ozone layer, acidic oceans, air pollution, acid rain, the melting of the glaciers, the eradication of idigenous species,... and on and on and on,... I have the solution,.... birth control in third world countries.
Get the Pope to endorse Birth Control. Then, grab a cold beer and watch the worlds ecosystem return to a happy state. Mother Nature is no idiot,... WE are the pollutant that is gumming up the works,... just sheer numbers folks,.... She knows,... and She has her own immune system,... Viruses. Give it time,... the more our planet is crowded, the more people are crammed into places on top of one another in squalor,... the more terrible plagues She will unleash. Something is wrong when starvation is at record levels, but those same areas most heavily impacted by starvation also have record birth rates on a global basis. I believe in philanthropy, and helping your fellow man, I truly do. But I believe in helping people, not enabling them. Their was a woman arrested, and sued in New York for offering Crack addicted mothers money to have thier tubes tied to avoid the birth of more crack addicted babies. I applauded her efforts. SHe had a group of 4 or 5 doctors who performed the surgeries at no cost, and provided quality after care for the women, and on top of all this, the group gave the mothers cash when all was said and done. I felt it was brilliant. I think that type of approach needs to be enacted on a global scale. "sure we will help you", "we will help you help yourselves". Why do we spend billions of dollars annually on foriegn aide to provide food to a starving family of 5, and then in a years time that same family is a starving family of 6, then 7, and 8.... it has to stop.

Ah, but alas, our existence on this rock in space is but a blink of an eye. I agree we're not doing this place any favors, but in the grand scheme of things, we cannot be held responsible for the end of the world. If the timeline of the earth was a set of encyclopedias, man's existence would be classified as the final period on the final page of the final volume. This world will thrive long after we're gone, just as it did long before we were here. Ebb and Flow.

Just to be clear I was totally referring to it's wonderful gas mileage. I'm a big fan of the Tread Lightly motto and nothing makes me crazier then to see someone going off trail and screwing around.
