Looking for the best place to tap in for a +12 power block.
I dont want to hook directly to the battery so I was thinking of comming off the motor compartment fuse block and run a 12 gage line over to the drivers side.
Good idea ?

That's cool, but I would put a large in-line fuse at the battery connection (within a few inches) that is rated for the total of everything you plan on running off that power block.

I misunderstood when I replied the first time. why don't you want to tap off of the battery? They make large guage fuses that would work well and protect the setup from overloading or in case of accidental contact to ground. Tapping off another block or accessory may not be a good idea if they have a fusable link or a main fuse. I don't see what help a relay would do on a power block, each accessory could be wired to a relay as/if neccessary.

Run to and from the battery! One it is a safer than trusting exixting wire. You can run in to a seperation block with a large amp fuse or Breaker then run from there by useing inline fuses or breakers to each seperate line to each need source. I personaly plan to eliminate a major part of my 25 year old wireing by doing this over the next few months. the fisn nest of wires under the dash have been damaged and spliced so much I feel it better to cut away and start a new now than try to figure it all out. Already my dash lights are on a toggle switch seperate from the light switch. tug
