Backfiring prob

I have an amc 360 with an eldebrock carb and a 3 speed trany. I am getting a lot backfiring when I'm in the high rpms just kind of coasting. Anyone know of a solution for this?

Ok lol. Well it could be a few things. Is ur engine timed right. And is the distributor advancing proper? Do you have points or hei.

Well it was timed by 4wheel parts and I have hei

It has an elde intake manifold and I don't have a tachometer so..... Ya. I can just tell when it's high by sound, but when I get on the gas the piping stops.

And no special cam or anything

Sounds like it may be on the lean side. But it could be ignition problem. A bad wire or plug.

Now that I think about it it prob could be a little lean, guess I'll have to readjust

I have had no good experiences with edelbrock very finicky. I would run a jet size prob two numbers bigger. . I run Holley now. I was at the dyno all day today getting next seasons engine all set up. We were getting a pop at 7500 rpm and found a plug wire that wasn't perfect. Now she makes awesome power to 8500. So pumped for drag racing.

Ya I don't really like elde but when I was looking for a 4bbl carb, cuz I upgraded the 2bbl, 4wp just kept insisting to get the elde. Idk why but they kinda f-ed me, I have noticed it has been very finicky. Do you think they will let me return it for sucking? Lol

Lol. I would try. My first two ede leaked right outta the box lol so that was an easy return.
