I have a 1986 AMC Comanche with the 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder engine. This is a replacement motor with 40,000 miles on it. When below 40 degrees, it will start and then stop. If I keep repeating this it will run rough until the engine gets a a little warm; then it runs fine.
If I place a heater cable for a few hours around the Throttle body unit and a black box component - 2" x 3" x 2" - the engine will start quicker but still stall.
In the warmer weather, it starts and runs fine.
Any Suggestions ?
Thank You
