Airconditioner bearings gone

Query on a 98 XJ 4.0L Auto

This query comes from South Africa. Daimler Chrysler SA dont supply the air conditioner internal components seperately. Where can I purchase a kit which replaces the air conditioners internal bearings/gaskets etc. even if it is from the origional manufacturers.

Daimler Chrysler in South Africa wants to sell me the entire compressor at a cost of around $1500.00

Please help?

You might try ebay for an entire compressor.
I know of a rebuilder in my town that ships worldwide.
I will give you the number if you want.
 
I am not entirely sure, so don't take my word for it, but I do not think that you can replace the parts, I think that you need to go with a whole new compressor when they fail... I don't know the exchange rate from the USA to South Africa, but that seems like a whole lot of cash for a compressor, I'd shop around... In my experience, going to the dealership will cost you twice as much as anywhere else.

I would need web details on guys who can supply me with the compressor( even re-conditioned and tested) at a more reasonable price, if you could provide me with these it would be greatly appreciated. Anything has to be better than $1500.00 dollars, the exchange rate is 1 to 6.5 in other words allot of cash.

Where I live, there is a company that rebuilds and exports compressors all over. They should have experiance with international orders.
I am not endorsing them, but I did have them re-seal my compressor on my 90 XJ and they did a good job.
