hey all

i had my airbox apart the other day and noticed that there was a big honkin' spacer/shim/restrictor in the upper tube that goes to the throttle body. a flick of the wrist and that SOB was outta there in no time. i'm not guaranteeing any horsepower gains but that thing bothered me to the point that i remembered to take pictures of the process. i managed to write up a little thing on my website:

enjoy!

Thats a very common mod and in fact the very first thing I did when I got my jeep home after buying it. I've heard a lot of both negative and positive about removing the restrictor but I've had no problems in the 4 years I've had mine out.

Yup, yanked mine out over a year ago after someone here posted this site:

Did see a noticeable gain in mpg, and possibly a few more horsies.

yeah, i read about that too, but i was under the impression that only wranglers had that thing in the airbox... *shrugs*

RE: Sloppy steering

nope... definitely in cherokees too. If you get ANY hp gain, it will be maybe 0.75 hp... but for free, what the heck. and the jeep is lighter now
