Add-A-Leaf?!

I was told after 4-6 months rear end will start to sagg, is this true? And if so what can I do to prevent this at a LOW cost?

Is this a new jeep or new lift?? With a new jeep or new lift the springs will be new and will settle in after a short time. The spring will break in and will sagg just a bit (they all do, its normal) but it shouldnt sagg so much that the rear oviously sits lower than the front. If it does, you can add-a-leaf which will stiffen your ride, or you can get slightly longer shackles for the rear. If carrying lots of cargo or a lot of towing it may sagg a bit more. Same solution though. If the jeep is new, I would take it back and have them put new rear spring on it, because a (good) new spring shouldnt sagg so much that the rear sits lower than the front.

It's a 98 cherokee, new suspension lift.

Hasn't been installed due to the fact I was told add-a-leafs are "Temp" for 4-6 months.

Well, I have driven a jeep with add-a-leafs in the rear and they never seemed to sagg on me (they were on the jeep when I got it). The add-a-leaf is a very stiff spring you add to the spring pack. I had that jeep for a couple yrs and never noticed a sagg. If you put a add-a-leaf to a very weak spring pack (springs sitting flat) I guess I could see it sagging in time because the other springs in the pack are shot and the add-a-leaf will be carrying the majority of the weight and sagg over time. On a decent spring pack (with a arch to it still) I dont see it doing that. I would go for it, I think you will be fine. Remember it will sagg just a bit. I hate to put a amount on it but would think 1/4 to a 1" at the most.

Quick question, was yours a cherokee or wrangler?

Okay, thank you very much.
You've been GREAT help!

mine was a cj with the add-a-leafs. Yes, I would say they could get to the point of saging so much that you may break a leaf if you hit a pot hole or large bump too hard, but it would have to be sagging pretty much (extremely sagging) to do that. sagging will limit the amount of weight you could carry or tow. as long as they dont sit flat or start to arch negatively you should be fine. Ive seen lots of wranglers with flat springs and my brother had one that had flat springs and off roaded it regularly with out any problems.
