Here is a list of the big book of Acronyms for Newbies that Jason at that "Other" forum came up with (Jeepin'.. I thought I outta site the source) I thought it might be useful to our newbies too. Can anyone think of any more? If so... post them.

Much of it doesn't apply to what we talk about here, but much does too.


aal = add-a-leaf
AEV = American Expedition Vehicles
AFAIK = as far as I know
ARB = Australian manufacturer of air lockers and offroad accessories, acronym is initials of the guy that developed the air locker, mistakenly thought to stand for Australian [kanga]Roo Bars
AT = all terrain, somtimes automatic transmission
AW4 = Aisin-Warner 4 (speed) - the auto transmission found in XJ's
BB = Budget Boost; short, simple lift kit usually about 1.5-2" in height.
BFG = BFGoodrich (sp?) tires
BFH = Big f@#&ing Hammer
BL = Body Lift
BP = British Patroleum, or Bullet Proof (Manufacturing)
BPE = bar pin eliminator
btt = back to top
BTW = By The Way
C4x4 = Custom 4x4 Fabrication
CCV = Crank Case Ventilation
CFM = cubic feet [per] minute
CMT = country music television
CPR = cardio pulminary resusitation
CPS = Crankshaft Position Sensor, Child Protection Services?
CV = constant velocity
DIY = Do It Yourself
DOA = Dead on arrival
DPA = Drop Pitman Arm
ECU = Engine Control Unit
EOR = Essential Offroad
ESC = electronic speed control (RC cars)

O2 = Oxygen (sensor)
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, not to be confuzzed with OME.
OME = Old Man Emu. ARB's suspension line.
ORGS = Off Road General Store
OYR = Off Your Rocker - company that makes diamond plate armor for SWB Jeeps.
PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation
PITA = no, not flat bread... Pain In The A$$
POS = Piece Of Sh#t
RE = Rubicon Express
RGB = red-green-blue
ROFLMAO = rolling on floor laughing my a$$ off
RRO = Rocky Road Outfitters
SFA = Solid Front Axle
SNAFU = Sitation Normal, All F'ed Up.

You know, I never really knew what most of the acronyms that are forum related ment. what does BB stand for in regards to a message board?

I was going to start simply typing some random acronyms on the bottom of all my posts to see who would catch on, TRNH I wanted to see if you guys/girls wouls just skipped over it like I usually do.

BB = Bulletin Board

I always try to define acronyms when I use them (I know it sort of defeats the purpose), but I think it is important that others understand what you are trying to tell them :mrgreen:
