99 TJ 2.5 serpentine chirp

Hello all!

I have a 99 TJ 2.5L 5 speed, runs like a top, BUT can not figure out which pulley is making a chirping sound, and it's driving me batty! Haha anyone out there come across this problem?

when my cherokee was doing it, the belt wasn't tight enough

Chirping could be the water pump. I've seen many of them do this. With the engine off try to wiggle the waterpump shaft and see if there is any side play (should be very little) . Or pull off the belt and turn and feel the waterpump shaft to see if the bearing is dry. If it is the pump it will shortly get worse and probably leak. Best of luck - John
