98 xj factory keyless entry

I have a 98 xj and when i purchased it from a private owner he had said that the factory keyless entry had been disconected. I have the remote for this but dont know what to look for and where if someone could tell me where this componet is located and such i would realy apreciate the help Thanks for any replies....

Ok I looked it up in my repair manual for my zj and apparently the receiver is in the overhead compartment by the dome lights. Check those wires maybe. The book is kind of vague.
