I was wondering if anyone knew what type and how much oil to put back in the ford diff. I have looked and people have said everything from 2 litres to fill it to the fill plug. Some say use syn oil othersd say use normal and use a additive. Too many differnet opinions out there. What are you guys running in your jeeps? Thanks

just get some 90 weight and fill the it over flows.

Ditto. You don't need any type of additive unless you havethe factory clutch typeLSD in there. And if you do... You shouldn't.

I just use regular 80 or 90 weight gear oil in my Ranger with an explorer 8.8". Don't need anything fancy. I also put an additive in for the locker, but you obviously don't need that since you're is open.

75W90 weight gear lube is fine. If you have a locker you do not need any friction modifier, as lockers do not use clutch type friction discs. The friction modifier is only used for clutch type limited slip posi traction differentials. Even then it is a personal judgement call if you use any, I don't use any friction modifier in mine.
