5 inch shackles

Maybe I'm nuts, but it seems my YJ rides alot better since I put the longer shackles on. They are only 1" longer than stock (about 1/2" of lift). I dont just mean the rear (springs used to hit frame with stock ones on real hard bumps) but the front as well. I'm thinking maybe they give the springs a little more movement and that's why. Man the old YJ sure rides pretty nice right now!

I can't imagine why it'd ride different if that's all you changed. Oh well, all the better for you.

Well it would make sense if his springs are starting to sag as all springs do eventually and the lift shackles dropped the axle enough to keep it from hitting the bump stop all the time.

Did you also upgrade the bushings and/or bolts to greaseables? That will help them move smoother. But hey, good for you. Plus 1/2" of lift!

My body and shackle lift made my ride a lot nicer. It drives great. It seemeed like I lost the low end torque but I made up a lot in the way it drives. I can't explain it but it is much better.

I had greaseable shackle bolts since I put my lift on this summer, and my Springs are pretty new (definately not sagging). I think that the rear springs had such a limited range of motion with the big BDS spring eyes in the little stock shackles and now they can move the way they're supposed to.
