4.2 a/c question

if i remove the factory ac compressor can i just replace the belt with one for a 4.2 without a/c or do i have to replace the copressor with a ideler pully of some sort?

is it a serpentine belt or v-groove? serp has an idler that rides on the pass side upper where the compressor is now - i'm looking for a compressor setup for the serp belt 4.2... if yours is serp. and you get yours out maybe i can get it and defray your cost of the change... let me know..

yea if you dont have the a/c it would have an idler like mine does..... you have the setup i want - theres an idler that mounts above the alt and on the bracket that holds the alt. - should use the same belt - find the idler (more common than the a/c config) and maybe we can talk about me buying your setup ... need it for my on board air compressor ... or maybe you should keep what you got and setup your own compressor...

id like to set a compressor up, but the big problem is changing the front plug, the compressor obstructs it so much its so difficult to get to, you got any tips for that

not really - but as often as you change out your plugs, you may just want to loosen up the comp. to get it out of the way (bit more work but not an every day thing..) rather than ditch the whole setup especially if you want to retain it for the OBA system ... (guess i'm shooting myself in the foot as i'd like to get my hands on your setup) i converted the stock compr. on my old 91 i had - trust me, you WANT onboard air... keep it where it is...
