Hey everybody, been readin for a while, decided to join- I have a '92 with the 2.5

motor, myself and 'Snitty' just did the SOA converstion and now I want bigger tires to fill up the added room that I just got. My friend has some 38" mudders for cheap (read- *free*), I was just wonderin with 4.88 gears, will the stock axles withstand the added stress from the bigger tires? Thanks for any and all input. Lookin forward to chattin with you all!!

(I have 32's on the stock gears right now, it is slow, but Jeeps are made for climbin, not racing- so the slow speed isn't a concern...[addsig]

you sill need about 2" to run 38s........ you can fit 35s but soon your leafs will start to sag .... you need a full length add aleaf to help out just to run 35s..... or get your self some new springs 2.5" then u can run 38s with no finder trimmin..... good luck [addsig]

Nah... The Dana 30 will be just fine (until you put a locker in it)... But, the MAX tire size for a 35c is 33 inchers... Anything higher than that and I would say a little prayer everytime I put the thing in gear...[addsig]

Thanks for the imput so far.. In addition to the SOA there is also about 1 1/2 inches of shackle lift in there, (gotta love the YJ's lifting ease..

) We measured and there is room for the tires. The off-roading that we do is more techinical type, not the slammin and bangin around that a lot of people do. I was just more concerned with it on the standpoint that it would be possible for the time being until more funds came along for stronger axles. Thanks again. [addsig]
