I'm a new member. My name is Kim. I've sought out a Forum because I'm need of some experienced advice for my 2007 Unlimited X 4 door 4 wd (aka. Patience). I pulled into my parking spot a little too far up. So, I put the shift stick (automatic, center console) into reverse and pressed the gas pedal. I went forward instead of backwards. The D on the dash was still highlighted but the stick moved freely. I turned off the engine with the key. Later, when I tried to start the engine, all the dashboard lights came on but the engine doesn't respond at all; no noises or vibrations of any kind. Tried, unsuccessfully, to move shift stick. I had to push down the override switch to free the stick. It moves freely but no sound of gears changing. So, I checked the linkage by the transfer case and it is still securely connected with the white plastic piece still intact. I also checked the linkage in the center console and it is also securely connected with plastic piece intact. Need help with next step.
