1991 Jeep YJ Alternator

I started my Jeep a few days ago and I notice the check engine light was on. Glanced to my right and I saw my battery gauge was at 10. But I while I was riding I heard a loud squeaking noise (My serpentine belt has about a four of an inch play so it's plenty tight. )and it shot back up to 14. It's been off and on like that but now my battery just isn't getting charged. I replaced my alternator 6 months ago, is it time for a new one?

New.

I've been reading around, could something be wrong with my regulator?

take it to one of the autoparts stores,a lot of them like autozone well do a free check for you[leave the alternator in the jeep and have them check the entire system]

I replaced the alternator and everything's running fine. Hopefully this one will last a little longer. :lol:
