Hey guys!-YES I'M A NEWBIE!

I have been reading your forum for about a year now and finally decided to join. The reason for this post is because I want to lift my 1988 jeep cherokee 4x4 with the 4.0L (not that it matters) and I am looking for the best kit for the money. I see alot of kits on ebay for about 400-600 for a 4.5" but then I call down to my local shop and they want almost $1000 for the same kit! Am I missing something? Are the kits on ebay incomplete or something..I have read other post about lifts and I don't see the inventory for a complete kit anywhere so I thought I would post it and see if anyone nows what the difference is...Also, what size tires can I go with on a 15x8 rim with a 4.5" lift? It seems that some cutting is required by reading some of your post! thanks in advance for any input!

i always tell everybody that is looking for lifts to go to www.rustysoffroad.com first... they have great prices and complete kits. with a 4.5" lift you should be able to clear 33's without any fender trimming.

JCWhitney deals in Rusty's kits? Keeewwwlllll.

You'll be surprised how tight 33" tires will be with only a 4.5" lift. XJ's have tight wheel openings and need a little more lift than other jeeps to fit the same size tire. You may need some slight fender trimming.

Check out Rough Country kits, many XJ owners in our club swear by them.
