I have had problems breaking the clutch cable. I now have been unable to locate a place where I can buy a cable. I would like to modify the clutch to do away with the cable. Since the 71 pedals are through the floor rather than suspended ( under dash ) like later models I've been told modifying to a hydraulic actuation system is very expensive. Also I've been told by Advanced Adapter Inc. their chain clutch actuation kit won't fit. I would appreciate it if anyone knows where I can buy (or get fabricated) a cable or has any suggestions for a practical modification.

Contact Willy's Overland parts in Toledo, Oh 1-800-265-JEEP. They have almost everything and are very good to work with. Why are you breaking cables? Is there something binding in the clutch fork, throw out bearing, or is there something wrong with the pressure plate springs? If you are replacing the cable I would also look at the pivot points and see if you need to service these also. They sell a kit that replaces both pivot balls and the cross bar that connects the clutch cable to the pedal rod. I run the same setup on my '56 and the only problem I have is pedal binding with the floor pan, but I just need to cut a bigger hole around it.
