    thanks for the info. Always learning new things. I hadnt thought about the off-set rear axle. I suppose I'll trade out the t-case too. I have a lot of time to figure it out. Gonna be fall before I have the oppurtunity to actually start tearing into this project. probably still gonna go...

    RE: GUESS WHO I recently bought a 79 cj-7 it already has a AMC 360 v-8 and TH 400 transmission. It also has the full time four wheel drive quadra-loc transfercase (which I hear is a pretty sturdy unit) So without saying the obvious weak link is the stock axles. right now it is on 33x12.5 mud...

    Hey thanks for the quick responses. I think ya'll are right the yj is probably the way to go. With the money I'll save I can build a better rig. I'm gonna need somthing pretty good as I am located about 50 miles east of Las Cruces, NM.
