I have a 1968 cj5 with 4 wheel drum brakes, I have adjusted them up till the brake shoes just scrape the drums. However the pedal doesn't have much if any free travel. Is this the correct way or is the pedal supposed to have some freeplay. Any help would be great.

Can anyone shed some light on this,I have a 68 CJ 5 and need help decoding the vin #. However the tag under the hood says it conforms to the applicable safety standards established under the national traffic and motor vechicle safety act of 1966. So is this a 66 or 68 CJ5,here is the vin #...
