    Rattling dash

I had a rattle in my dash for a long time. When I replaced the radio I noticed one of the mounts to the vent controls broke. Zip tied it up and it was gone.

    Headlight switch problem

Check fuses? If the switch went bad and shorted it could have popped the fuse.

Need help choosing a lift kit

Don't want to have to install the lift twice or broken defective parts. I'm with Foot on this one, spend the extra bucks and go with a reputable company.

    lift kit question

SYE is really only needed on 4"+ lifts. You could do an SYE if you wanted to but that's alot more than just dropping the transfer case an inch. Most kits come with a lowering kit. Chances are other things will get snagged before that skid does. If you are worried about it do an SYE. They're...

    Tj <> cj

If your TJ is in good shape I'd say keep it. Most CJs i see for sale are all rusted out and painted over to look nice. The ones that are nice are way too expensive and end up needing extra work on things. I ended up giving up my search and snagged a YJ.

    changing dash color

YJ dash is really easy to pull apart. Can have the whole thing apart in like 10-15 minutes. It would take longer to tape off.

    newbie needs help

You could trim. If you put 31s under it you'll have problems with turning as well as some flex rubbing. Could toss in a cheap body lift and wheel spacers to push the 31s out a bit. Should just ride stock and save up some loot get a nice 2.5" lift with 31s.

    newbie needs help

You can stuff 31s under it with some rubbing. I would say only go as high as 30s on the stock suspension. I had 30s on my stock YJ when I got it and turning was fine but if I put some weight in the back tires would eat up the flares.

How do i know if i have a 4.0 or a 4.2 in my jeep?

In wranglers they used 4.2 up to 1990 and switched in 91 to the 4.0. If you got a carb its a 4.2. 4.0s had fuel injection.

    head bolts and such

I think its up until 87 the the 258 used 7/16. Later models used 1/2. All the 4.0 heads should use 1/2. Not 100% though. I've seen people reuse old push rods and new ones. You should buy a set of new bolts, they say they should be changed when swapping heads.

    BA10 trans

Cleaning out my garage. Came across an old BA10 trans from my 88 YJ. Took it out awhile back to swap in a NV3550. Worked when I took it out. I bought the jeep with over a 100K miles so who knows if its been rebuilt. I put 60K+ on the trans so it might be ready to die, but it was working when I...

    I want lockers!

I'd wait and do them both at the same time so you won't have to open it up and pretty much do the same job twice. I hear good things about the electric lockers for selectable ones. I had OX lockers in my old TJ and really liked them.

    external sye?

Rubicon Express made a hack and tap SYE so you didn't have to crack the case open. Most places that sell shafts will be able to tell you what size you'll need based on what you are driving and lift. Measure from the center of each yoke for your new shaft.
