When I did the NV3550 conversion on my 4.2L it took us a day of trying to mate the two. Such a pain, we got it, just took lots of tries and wrench throwing.

Its easy enough to handle in a weekend with some friends. Its just really just swapping parts. Just blast all the suspension bolts with PB plaster or the like for a few days before you tackle it.

Putting foam in small enclosure like a jeep's roll bar speaker thing won't do much at all. The idea is you are fooling the speaker to think its in a larger area. If I'm not mistaken it will just lower the bass the speaker puts out giving it a more crisp sound. It generally shouldn't be packed...

Most kits are from the cat back. You won't need to get a new one, bring it to a shop they'll put enlargers or reducers on.

What year cherokee? The one you are putting in might be a newer multi-stage airbag. It might not work because it uses the cars computer to get information about how much force the airbag should be deployed with. I'm pretty sure the 97 is just the basic airbag. sounds right about it completes...

Positions for the 231 is 2H, 4H, N 4L. Moving the shift handle to the right and then down is part of the shifter handle, has nothing to do with the transfer case itself.

You still need the housing on either swap. I put the nv3550 in my 88. Pick up a used transmission most places have the bellhousing attached already.
