    New water pump info?

I can't tell you which one on that site is yours, but a serpentine belt is usually where you only have one belt that goes around everything. If it's a V-belt, you probably have 2 of them under the hood. Take yours in with you for comparison because some of those chain stores will try to sell you...

    It's Alive!!! The transmission works!!!

After 9 weeks of frustration, I finally have a running Jeep again. It may only run once before something breaks, but it's running. Swapping in an AX15 was fairly easy. Finding out why the AX15 kept locking into 5th gear wasn't easy. Shift rails don't have to be bent very much to throw everything...

    Shift fork?

I should hopefully be getting on the road again soon. When I woke up at 4 something this morning thinking about it, I went out to the shop to look into the shift fork issue. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. For the heck of it, I took the shift rail out. The end the shift fork attaches...

    Shift fork?

Here's the run-down. I purchased an AX15 to rebuild for my 87 YJ. It's been in and out twice now for locking into 5th gear. Parts replaced---bearings and seals, 5th counter gear, shift sleeve, syncro, keys, springs. I just received and put on the shift sleeve tonight. When everything is...

    Different transmission question

Yesterday wasn't the best day I've had in a while either. Sorry if I sounded a little testy. My dog wouldn't even come near me.

    Different transmission question

I do realize that much. The transmission is not in the Jeep and the Jeep is not readily available to look at. So, if you want to go at it that way, what direction does the crankshaft in the motor turn if looked at from the rear? And, yes I know it turns the same direction as the flywheel.

    Different transmission question

I've never paid attention to this. Looking at it from the rear, does the output shaft on the transmission rotate clockwise or counterclockwise in a forward gear? The question may sound silly, but I do have a reason for asking. One way causes a slight bind in 5th and the other way rotates out of...

    Yet another AX15 issue

I am still trying to figure out why my AX15 locks into 5th gear. I had to replace the counter 5th gear and synchronizer ring. At first the synchro was tight, so I found another one that fit like it was supposed to. When I shift into 5th, it will not release from 5th even in neutral. I can force...

    AX15 problem

I have finally finished swapping out the Peugeot with the AX15. I now have a new problem. Just for reference, it is an 89 AX15, 94 bellhousing, external clutch slave, 4.2 motor. I rebuilt the transmission and in the process had to replace the counter 5th gear as well as the syncros and bearings...

    Clutch slave question

I'm almost done with this AX15 swap----finally. Here's a pic of the slave cylinder. The unit came as a master and slave already assembled, filled, and hopefully ready to go. My question is about the white connecting straps you see. Is the external slave like the internal one in that you don't...

Is this the right transmission mount

Thanks. I got an answer from another forum.

Is this the right transmission mount

Putting an 89 AX15 in place of my 87 Peugeot. I bought this 4 bolt bracket off of Ebay. Is it the right one? It puts the holes in the poly transmission mount just off of dead center of the double wall cross brace on the skid plate. If it's the right one, do I bolt all the way through both walls...

    Clutch question

Thanks. I had snapped the clips into the slots on the fork. I just wanted to make sure that was correct. But I got to wondering if somehow they were intended to be some kind of return springs. I just couldn't figure out how. The transmission is an 89. The guy I bought it from apparently didn't...

    Clutch question

Dumb question time. I am putting a 94 bellhousing in an 87 wrangler along with an AX15. How does the release (throwout) bearing attach to the clutch fork. I have it assembled, but want to make sure it is correct. Also, what pulls the throwout back when you release the clutch? The slave is not...

    AX15 mount bolts

Anyone know what size and thread the bolts are for the AX15 transmission mount? I mean the 4 that hold the mount to the transmission.

    Red Line transmission fluid

When I was looking, they were about the cheapest when it came to price and shipping combined. I can get the Pennzoil locally though.

    Red Line transmission fluid

I'm working on an AX15 in my spare time. It was still recommended, but I had as many hits for Pennzoil Syncromesh as I did Redline. The price is a little more for the Redline, but only a couple of bucks per quart.

I wish I had been that lucky. If it's an oddball part, I've got it.

    hmm what to do???

231 T/C is the model NP231 transfer case for your 4 wheel drive. You have a model NP207 right now. It won't work on an AX15 transmission without a different input shaft. It's usually cheaper to change the transfer case to the 231.
