    Dieseling after MC2100 install

No vacuum leaks that I can find. I adjusted the idle mixture screws a little to drop the idle to between 600 and 650. I had originally set it using a vacuum gauge and it idled 750. On the first test run, it shuts down fine now. I'll check it more to be sure. Will using the mixture screws affect...

    Dieseling after MC2100 install

I checked the timing again and it was actually about 10* BTDC. I adjusted it to 8* and my heat problem went away. Now to fix the dieseling. I'll be checking for vacuum leaks as soon as possible. It idles about 750. Could that be too high?

    Weber Carb Help

Here's how my vacuum system is set up. Drawing's a little crude. Let me know if you can't read it. I can email it to you if not.

    Dieseling after MC2100 install

Have you got a recommendation on the timing? I thought it was supposed to be 8 to 10*? Makes sense. I don't want to make it run like crap with not enough advance, but I do want it running right.

    Dieseling after MC2100 install

Just installed an MC2100 this afternoon. When I took it for a drive, after running a while it will diesel on shutdown. I also noticed my temp is about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than with the Weber. Here's everything I know right now--- Carb came off of a 90 model with 4.2. Previous owner said he...

    AX15 transmission question

If all of the ax15s are the same, there is a small drain hole in the flange of the transmission. A gasket wouldn't do a lot of good. I found the hole after I had used RTV and sealed the flange. A lot of good the RTV is doing.

    AX15 transmission question

If the MJ uses the same clocking as the Cherokee, it will be 10 degrees off from the YJ transmission. There is no difference in the transfer case, but the holes in the transmission are drilled in different spots. What that translates to is that the front drive shaft will be lower and will...

    Transmission help.

Different pilot bearing/bushing. The 96 and up used a larger input shaft. External clutch hydraulics--Master, slave, lines--I bought mine as an assembled and filled unit. Throwout bearing and clutch fork. Some guys have found that the holes in the transmission that the transfer case mounts to...

    Shifter locked up

Mine was doing that after I rebuilt it. Found out the 5th gear shift rail was bent slightly and kept the shift sleeve partially engaged. Looking at the shift fork, the fork would be harder to bend than the shift rail. The only way I could get it out of 5th was to put it in neutral with the...

    What is this??

My 87 didn't have a ballast resistor anywhere off of the coil. It had a full 12 volts. Mine is also an early 87, so maybe that is the difference.

    258 block w/ 86 head

I've got an early 87 head, which I think is identical to your 86, on a 75 block and have had no problems. I know the block ID on my original motor showed it to be manufactured in 86.

    Nutter question

I just tried the nutter bypass on my 87 4.2. I am running a Weber 32/36 and an rv cam as the only mods to the engine. When I swapped the wires, I also moved the vacuum advance to the ported outlet on the carb as per instructions. When I went to set timing, it would only advance to 6*BTDC. And...

    Deeper sound

Before my glass pack burned out, I would equate the sound of mine as being like a very mad, loud bumble bee. Definitely not a V8 sound. The 4 cylinder would probably come out more like a mad, loud house fly.

    Deeper sound

I've got a glass pack on my 6 cylinder. It sounded fine at first, but as it gets miles on it the sound is going from decent to obnoxious. I'll be putting on a Flowmaster as soon as I can make the time to do so. I imagine the 4 cylinder wouldn't do any better.

    What is this? Help!!

Something else worth mentioning. If the tcase is high mileage, it might be a good idea to take the rear cone off and replace the bushing in it also. I replaced the seal only to have it still leak. I replaced the worn bushing and the leak stopped. I think the bushing was allowing the slip yoke to...

    Can't reverse my '89 Wrangler

Careful there Sparky. Some of these young-uns on the forum have never even seen or heard of a Datsun. Talk about making me go back to my younger years.....Now THAT'S scary to me.

    Can't reverse my '89 Wrangler

I can't answer if it's the Peugeot transmission, but if it's the AX15 it could be several things. A bent shift rail, one of the detente balls between rails, reverse shift arm, reverse shift shoe(this moves the reverse gear in and out). I have also seen it as being something as simple as the...

    Winch

I've only had Warn and have had no problems with them. Used is fine, but if it 's been used a lot it will need new brushes and/or bearings. I would stick with a new one if possible. Ramsey has a good reputation also from what I hear from some friends who have used them. I would recommend a...
