    258-head bolts

If I haven't forgotten, 81 through 86 blocks had 7/16" head bolts. The 86 blocks also appeared in early 87 models. Pre-81, 88,89,and 90 models had 1/2" bolts.

    MC2100 jet question

I'm down in Texarkana. Not but a couple hundred feet difference probably. I think mine has 49s in it. I've ordered some 46 and 47s. If that doesn't do it, I'll try the power valve too. I'll have to check to see which one I need though.

    MC2100 jet question

Answered my own question. I found a site from 2002 that says: "1. You might try the auto parts stores for Ford jets or, the dealer or, a carb. rebuild shop. 2. Yes, the numbers on the jets are like: 48F, 49F, 50F, etc. The bigger the no. the larger the hole in the jet for the fuel to pass."...

    MC2100 jet question

After getting the top and doors off, I've been smelling a strong, rich exhaust odor. More so than when I had a weber on the motor. I thought I would check to see what size jets the MC2100 has in it. Both of them have been stamped very off center as to the size. I have what looks like the top of...

Blowing fuse when hauling a trailer

You're going the same route I would. Simple stuff first. I wasn't thinking on the type of fuses. I guess I still have old-school glass fuses in my brain. One other thing that comes to mind from my days of chasing Ford light problems. Are you sure you have a good ground between the trailer and...

Blowing fuse when hauling a trailer

The flasher shouldn't blow the fuse unless the current draw is right at the blow point. All the flasher consists of is a strip of metal that heats up with current and pulls away from the contact that sends power to the light. When it cools, it drops back and makes contact. It wouldn't hurt to...

    94 yj stuck in 4wd

If that doesn't work, try unplugging the vacuum harness from the passenger side front axle. Plug it back in and crank it up. It may be as simple as the vacuum isn't releasing. Or it could be that the shift fork in the axle isn't releasing. That could mean the vacuum motor isn't working or the...

    Carb Advise

I just have a poor old MC2100. It runs better than I could ever get the Weber running. And I tried for 2 years with the Weber.

    YJ overheating,HELP HELP HELP

Mine was overheating due to the secondary effects of a major vacuum leak around my EGR, which didn't work anyway. After fixing that leak, resetting the fuel mixture, and resetting the timing, it works great. Just an after-thought. Aren't there 2 different water pumps that will fit the 4.2? One...

    Help! Leaking transmission

Is it transmission fluid for sure? An engine oil leak will blow back on the transmission and make it look like the leak is there.

    Bad Milage YJ!

Mine runs about 1600 around 60 mph if I remember right. I'll try to check on my way to work tomorrow to verify. ---If my imaginary mind remembers to tell me to pay attention.

Is the Weber 32/36 DGEV the best.

My bad...I didn't even look at the dates. Must be too tired to think. Think I'll have the wife punish me. Edit. You're right. This is OLD. I looked at the month and day and totally ignored the year.

I feel for you. Been in that exact spot with the same type vehicle. Had to sell 2 vehicles just to get out from under that stupid van.

Is the Weber 32/36 DGEV the best.

If I remember right, early model 4.0s were carbed. You might have to check with a boneyard for an early XJ with one in it to get the intake off of if the 4.2 doesn't fit.

Mine does it too. Especially when the lights and wipers are on. I'll worry about it when it gets worse.

    new problem with shifting etc.

If the previous owner put in an aftermarket pre-bled master/slave assembly, there isn't a bleeder on it. At least that's how mine is. As far as pushing it all the way to the floor, that's normal. Mine starts to engage at about 1/4 of the way down and is completely engaged about 1/2 way down.

    hard shifting

Sounds to me like the main shaft is still spinning with the clutch in. Maybe worn clutch, hydraulic system problem, or a shift sleeve or bearing binding in the transmission. What transmission is it?

    new problem with shifting etc.

I would still suspect something along the lines of the hydraulic clutch system. Personally, it sounds like the slave isn't fully engaging unless you hold it in a while. When moving, the synchronizers will help in shifting. Sitting still, they don't do a whole lot. My AX15 holds 3 1/4 quarts. Not...
