The Brits, the Aussies, the Germans, the Italians, to name a few.... I saw 3 at the chow hall this morning the state Dept guys were using...and yes our army has used them here in iraq....
Believe it or not the Toyota FJ replaced Jeep for military use around the world because it can and will out-perform jeep in every fashion in a stock vs stock configuration. I would own an FJ becuase they ARE different...AND NOT a Hummer....
Thanx for the brief job history.....two scoops?...and my apologies for apearing crass....My annunciations were directed at my frustrations of the less than optimal acoustic environment that is a wrangler through and through..and how much of a pain they can be to overcome this to even get close...
80.00 is very cheap...but for the REST of you who have neither the room nor the desire for something messy (yes is does/can/will get messy) My Linex guy In Baltimore charges 100.00 for the frame any color and 200.00 for the tub any color....and takes 2 days for frame and tub... 300.00 bux and 2...
seriously? It's a tinny drafty every road noise, tire noise open aired vehicle...unless you dynamat the entire tub and slap hard doors and a hardtop with rubber seals from hell on it...it won't matter WHAT you put in that thing...i Just did a YJ with 1 5channel amp...front kicker...
that's about what I spent on Swindle...but it's damn near bullet proof with a 6.0 ltr...way less than 75k....i see one on ebay for 60k right now...AEV just like the one posted here but it's black.
I TOTALLY agree with you on this one! I can't see spending 35k for a v6 and plastic fenders.... For a few bux more i could get a very nice used viper...yeah it's apples and oranges...but the point is...when i think of a 35k-40k vehicle...JEEP DOES NOT come to mind....
with the way the economy is now...the people who can afford a 75k vehicle ARE NOT Jeep people... and the Jeep People may covet such a Jeep mostly have the common sense to NOT afford it.... so..AEV may need to revamp the strategy of what loyal Jeep customers are all about...they'd rather build it...
