I had a similar problem with my CJ7. The choke coil would get stuck in the full choke position and not release when the engine warmed up! the no sounds at all is a little strange which makes me think that maybe its something else electronic, but just thought i would share.

Hey I've done a couple of these!! they are a blast to rebuild! one thing that helped me tremendously was that an early 90's tub fits on the old frame and is exactly the same as the CJ except for the gas hole and tailgate hinges which can easily be changed with a simple cut and weld!! good luck...
